Judith_24_bw-(5)Judith Janzen, Candian Soprano, Co-Founder and Artistic Director of the Children’s and Youth Choir Juventus Vocalis is no stranger to the choral community.

Since 1987 she has nurtured young singers through her acclaimed work with children’s choirs and on-going vocalists. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she began her vocal and piano training at age 7.

Pursuing her childhood passion of becomming a singer, she continued advanced studies at the University in Detmold, germany, with a scholarship from the Canada Arts Council.Here she completed her Concert Exam “summa cum laude” with Theo Lindenbaum. Masterclassess with H. Rilling, H.M. Linde, N. Rogers, E. Cavelti and extended studies in Milano, Italy with F. Cavalli all served to enhance her expertise. Her studies were followed by many years of recitals and concerts as well as guest engagemnets in the field of Opera, including Mozart’s Magic Flute (Queen of night), Beethoven’s Fidelio (Leonore), Weber’s Freischütz (Agathe) and Nicolai’s The Merry Wifes of Windsor (Fr. Flute).

Judith Janzen is able to combine her own musical experience with a remarkable ability to train and motivate others, based on a genuine affection and respect for each singer. A deep conviction that ordinary children can achieve extraordinaey heights, guides her singers in the pursuit of excellent, resulting not only in the nurture of musical development, but also unprecedented personel grow, which instills confidence, poise and determination.

The rapt attention earned from her charges is reflected in their singing. The vision she shares has guided her singers, individual students as well as the choristers, to national recognition for excellence, having won numerous awards at the local, provincial and national / international level.

Judith Janzen ist a board member of the German Association of Singing Teachers (BDG).

In addition to her private vocal studio “Bühne frei!” and tewaching position at the conservatory level, she holds a vocal teaching position at the Universaty for Music an Theater in Saarbrücken since 2002.

Her dedication to church music is evidenced by a life-time of service to the church.

In gret demand to share her expertise with all levels and ages, and known for her captivating warmth and enthusiasm, invitations to appear as adjudicator, lecturer and clinician have taken Judith Janzen across the Europian Continent.

Her dream to establish an International Children’s Choir Festival was fulfilled in 2002 with “Touch the future”:

is the volunteer President and Founder of America Sings! He created America Sings! in 1988 to be a unique, positive alternative to the competitive choral music festivals at which he was so often asked to judge. John wanted to create an event where everyone went home winner. He also wanted to find a way to harness the boundless energy and creative spirit of America’s young performers and focus theit time and talents on helping at-risk and needy children.

John has served as a guest clinician at the Fred Waring Summer Choral Workshop, the Show Choir Camps of America and Duke University’s Brightleaf Music Workshop. He also conducts his own popular seminars, workshops and sessions for students and music educators as a free-lance entertainment consultant. He is nationally acclaimed as an inspirational motivator of musical teachers and their students.

A renowened choreographer ( he’s choreoraghed, directed or performed in productions throughout the world) John help’s pick the music and creates all the choreography for the songs to be performed in the festival’s Massed-Choir Concert Celebrations and for America Sings! ensembles in the Macy’s Parade. John also coordinates the show order for every Friday Eveneing Welcome Concert and Massed-Choir Finale Celebration and maintans overall quality control for each festival and event.

John is the author of dozens of popular music compositions/shows including Bithday of a King, a sacred Christmas cantata and revues such as Nickelodeon, SRO, All-American and A DIsney Spectacular. He has written (and continues to write and arrange) dozens of songs designed for school and community choral programs.He has created numerous innovative video projects including the Video Showcase series and Gotta Sing! Gtta Dance! and has authored the popular book Ditionary of Dance. Along with his many other projects, John is currently the creative force behind Music Express Magazine and still hosts the John Jacobson Workshops throughout the USA every Summer.

John received his undergraduated degree in music education from the Unuversity of Wisconsin-Madison where he performed with and eventually directed the Wisconsin Singers. He earned his Master Degree in Liberal Arts from Georgetown University.

John now lives way up in northern California (not far from fellow song-writer Roger Emerson) where he has a home office from which he writes his songs, createshis choreograhhy and run s his many projects.

On October 23rd, 2001 John was officially designated as a Point of Light.

Our Festivalband was founded in 2002 when the International Childrens and Youth Festival “Touch the future” first took place.

10 young musicians each outstanding in his field and together absolutely unbeatable!

With their combination of superior musicality and excellent “esprit de corps” it is not difficult to imagine the motivation and joy they transport to the young people they accompany and to the audiences they entertain.

The CD „Sounds of a better World – Escuchalos!“, is a joint production with Juventus Vocalis.
